Happy Fall Everyone. This time of the year presents many transitions for most of us in terms of our schedules & the changing seasons, requiring our priorities to shift and adapt. The one thing for certain in life is change, and the seasons here in Vermont really give us an opportunity to test our resilience for that. Fall signals the beginning of Vata season in the Yoga world and I personally have been feeling the Vata fueled winds blowing around in my life both mentally and physically. Allowing my practice to be based on what will help me navigate these "winds" the best is what I am embracing right now the most. If nothing else, be ok with your practice giving you what you need, in that moment. It doesn’t have to be hard or complicated to be yoga.
Our yoga practice is meant to change. Day to day, even minute to minute if you are truly paying attention. Approaching a life long practice through the lens of being human is what will bring you the most joy and help to eliminate suffering in your body and mind. As TKV Desikachar states “Whatever place, whatever time, the ancestors have framed Yoga practices to suit them all. Only the attitudes and circumstances of human beings change.”
With that sentiment in mind I have a variety of offerings coming up. Some old, some new, and some that I would appreciate any feedback so I can better serve those who are interested in studying and practicing with me. I have begun my lengthy journey of becoming a Certified Yoga Therapist and recently completed a Pranayama Level 1 Teaching Certification (beginning Level 2 soon). Additionally, I am on the verge of completing my Self-Myofascial Release training and just finished a Yoga and Lymphatics certification. All this is to say I have a lot of new tools in my own toolbox and a lot to share! Below is some updated information on my current and upcoming offerings that I hope will be helpful for both you and me as we flow into fall.

Restorative yoga is a relaxing, low-movement practice where we work to restore balance to our nervous system through guided meditation and guided breath-work while embracing stillness and relaxation in poses using the support of props. It helps to relieve stress, aids in better sleep and immune function, and can be essential to our well-being while navigating the overwhelming demands we place on our nervous system. All props are provided for practice (blankets, blocks, bolsters, straps, massage balls, sometimes chairs). This 1.5 hour length class allows time for the body and mind to settle into a truly relaxed state.
